These are the questions couples ask us most, from the first enquiry through to the day your gallery arrives. If something isn't covered here, email us and we'll be happy to help.
What is your wedding photography style?
Natural, candid and timeless. We work in a non-invasive way and spend most of the day documenting the unposed moments as they happen. For portraits we give as much direction as you need, with gentle prompts rather than stiff poses, so you can relax and be yourselves in front of the camera.
Where do you photograph weddings?
We're based in Melbourne and photograph weddings all over the city, as well as in the Yarra Valley and on the Mornington Peninsula. We're also happy to travel anywhere in Australia or overseas, including Europe.
How far in advance should we book?
As early as you can once your date and venue are set. We only take on a limited number of weddings each year so every couple gets proper care, and popular dates tend to go first. We're currently taking bookings for 2026 and 2027.
How do we secure our date?
Fill in the contact form or email [email protected] and we'll get back to you within 24 hours. To lock in your date we ask for a 30% booking fee and a signed contract. After that we stay in touch in the months leading up to the wedding, and you can reach us with questions at any time.
How many hours of coverage do we need?
It depends on your day. All of our packages can be adjusted, and extra hours can be added if you'd like us to stay later. Most full days run from getting ready through to the first dance. When will we receive our photos, and how many?
You'll get a small gallery of sneak peeks soon after the wedding. The full gallery is delivered within 8-10 weeks. Every wedding is different, but an 8-hour day usually comes to around 800 photos.
How do family photos work?
We recommend doing them straight after the ceremony, while all your guests are still in one place. Send us a list of the family groups you'd like beforehand, and ask a friend or relative who knows both sides of the family to help call each group up. That way the two of you stay in one spot and the whole thing takes about 30 minutes.
Do we need a permit for our photo location?
Some locations require one. The Royal Botanic Gardens and the University of Melbourne both ask couples to apply for a wedding photography permit before the day. Popular spots like Parliament House and Fitzroy Gardens can also get busy, so we build extra time into the timeline. Our Melbourne wedding photographer page has more on our favourite locations.
What happens if it rains?
We work around it. Parliament House has a sheltered balcony that suits wet weather, and a first look before the ceremony means your portraits are done early if the forecast turns later in the day. Some of our favourite photos have been taken on grey days.
When is the best light for portraits?
The hour before sunset, often called golden hour. The light is soft and warm and very flattering. Sunset usually falls during the reception, but 10-15 minutes away from the party is enough for a few portraits of just the two of you, and we'll help you plan it into the day.
